Segmental Lining
Since 1979, Aarsleff Pipe Technologies has been at the forefront of developing new No-Dig products and solutions. We invest a lot of resources in our research and development departments. One of the results of our investments is Aarsleff Segmental Lining.
Aarsleff Segmental Lining is based on the installation of prefabricated glass fibre segments that we place inside defective pipes with great precision.
The first step of a renewal process using Aarsleff Segmental Lining is to pull a so-called gauging pig through the defective pipe. The purpose is to ensure a perfect match between the old pipe and the new pipe that we are going to create. A gauging pig is a steel frame that corresponds to the dimension and length of the new pipe segments. It is of course of the utmost importance that we carry out the gauging and other initial parts of a renewal project with great care.
Installation of the segments can be quite a challenge. Often, we have to work with heavy equipment under extreme conditions in huge pits that are several meters deep. We usually install the segment by cutting off part of the top of a defective pipe. We then lower the new segments into the pipe, mount them on a trolley that carries them inside the pipe. Here, we join the new segments with great precision. Finally, we inject grout into the space between the old pipe and the new pipe.
From experience we know that one of the main success criteria if we want to deliver high-quality solutions is to pay close attention to all details throughout the entire renewal process. Therefore, we invest considerable resources in careful planning and in creating close ties to, for example, local authorities, suppliers and partners.
