From bathroom to attic
In 2009, the cooperative housing association Skanderborgvej 36-38 in Aarhus was facing a big renewal project. The primary reason for launching this project was occurrence of mould. Aarsleff Pipe Technologies was given the task of renewing 43 leaky rectangular vent ducts.
The 43 vent ducts were square and measured 100 x 150 mm. They ran from the bathrooms of the building and up to an attic where they were connected to an exhaust system. All the vent ducts were constructed of bricks, and the preliminary CCTV inspection showed among other things a great deal of surplus mortar that we had to remove. We removed the surplus mortar and other roughness by means of a purpose-made plummet that we led through all ducts under CCTV surveillance. This was a very important procedure, as the quality of a renewal project depends to a great extent on cleaning and preparation. Therefore we have state-of-the-art equipment for this purpose. In case of completely new challenges in relation to cleaning and preparation, we always begin with targeted development work focusing on finding new solutions.
As the channels had been cleaned and prepared, we installed the Aarsleff CIPP Lining by means of air pressure. The installation was carried out with special equipment from the attic and down to each of the bathrooms. In order to make sure that the liner was pressed out to the existing vent ducts, we maintained the air pressure overnight. When we had finished the installation of an Aarsleff CIPP Lining, we carried out a final CCTV inspection as part of our constant focus on quality and documentation.
