Underpasses
At Aarsleff Pipe Technologies, we experience an increased interest for No-Dig renewal of underpasses and sub-crossings, including underpasses running along roads and railway tracks. An increasing number of underpasses and sub-crossings are about to be renewed within a foreseeable number of years.
Many of them are worn out; others have many cracks or have simply collapsed. In addition, it will be very important in future that these pipes work at optimum level as increased water amounts will accelerate the undermining of roads and railways by removing the gravel and sand serving as stabilisation.
Clearly, one of the reasons for the increased interest in our solutions is that it is both expensive and very inconvenient to the traffic to excavate underpasses and sub-crossings. When we renew an underpass or a railway sub-crossing by means of the newest methods for No-Dig renewal, we do not need to bar roads and divert the traffic.
Not only road-users and train passengers benefit from our expertise within No-Dig renewal. So does the environment. Installing an Aarsleff CIPP Lining does not take long. According to Swedish environment investigations, 85% of the environmental impact in connection with renewal of pipe systems can generally be attributed to excavation.
In many areas, pipes running under or along roads or railway tracks play an important part to the fauna. Fish and a number of small animals, e.g. mice, walk or swim across the pipes. CIPP lining of underpasses is thus of benefit for people, animals and the environment. In some cases, we even adapt the colour of an Aarsleff CIPP Lining to the animals that we expect to use it. In our experience, some animals prefer to pass pipes of a certain colour.
