Toilet downpipes

In more and more old buildings, including residential buildings, the toilet downpipes are in bad shape. It leads to odour nuisance due to leakage at laterals, lack of ventilation of the downpipes above the roof or hidden vacuum valves that are not functioning properly. Previously, renewal of a building’s toilet downpipes imposed inconvenience to residents and users and not least high costs, as a renewal project normally included removal of walls and installations.

Over the years, Aarsleff Pipe Technologies have developed a number of products and techniques for internal renewal on the inside of vertical downpipes, including toilet downpipes. In cooperation with our subsidiaries, we have developed a new technique for sealing of transitions between vertical and horizontal laterals.

Today, we are able to reduce inconvenience as well as costs considerably compared to traditional renewal. One of the major reasons for this is that our techniques reduce the need for removal and demolition considerably.

It is a complex job to renew toilet downpipes. It requires specialised knowledge, experience and state-of-the-art technology. Toilet downpipes often run inside walls and are therefore difficult to access. From experience we know that in many cases the changes and reconstructions that many buildings undergo over time increase the complexity of accessing the leaking toilet downpipes.

Over the years, Aarsleff Pipe Technologies has carried out a large number of renewal projects comprising downpipes. Big projects as well as small projects. We carry out some of the projects alone, whereas other projects involve a number of partners and sub-contractors.
