Preliminary work
For more than 30 years, Aarsleff Pipe Technologies has worked with No-Dig renewal of many types of pipes. We have gained experience in both very big and very small renewal projects. Regardless of the size, there is a common theme to all renewal projects, namely preliminary work as we called it in Aarsleff Pipe Technologies. When we implement preliminary work, we remove blockages and conduct measuring-in of active laterals in the damaged pipes.
It is necessary to take the long-term view, and therefore we always start out by preparing a condition assessment based on a CCTV inspection of the damaged pipe system. A precise outline is required to ensure that we, in cooperation with our clients, find the correct methods, the correct scope and the actual financial costs for each individual project.
On the basis of the condition assessment, we prepare a detailed renewal plan that we present to our client. This renewal plan identifies defects and main areas of action plus defines priorities. In addition, the renewal plan provides a precise outline of all material financial aspects of the project in question.
One of the first things we start out with, once the client has approved the renewal plan, is to implement the necessary and highly important preliminary work that ensures an optimisation of the damaged pipe system in respect to the upcoming renewal. In most cases, such renewal involves installation of an Aarsleff CIPP Lining. In other words, we prepare the damaged pipe for renewal by removing deposits and intruding roots as well as measuring-in active laterals.
Preliminary work is an important part of our work, and the quality of a renewal project highly depends on the way we plan and implement this phase.
